Spotlight on: DJ SUN
Unless you've been hiding under a rock for the past decade, chances are you've heard DJ SUN spin at Houston's most stylish lounges and bars around town like The Flat, Gravitas or Brasil (back in the day).
Now you can sample a taste of DJ SUN's very own original music on Monday Drive EP (Alt Take Records).
 Monday Drive is a 5-song soundtrack of some of the musical influences SUN encountered while being exposed to an amalgamation of sounds from reggae to disco, as well as, salsa to soul and jazz. Drawing from a rich and varied background (DJ SUN spent his formative years in Rotterdam, The Netherlands and Suriname, South America), there is a distinct grittiness to his production sourced from the vibrant 70s musical landscape he was exposed to in Suriname.
Driven by the positive feedback received from DJs around the world, spins on stations spanning from Atlanta (WRAS) to LA (KCRW) and NY to Paris-and simply because it has been his lifelong goal-DJ SUN continues his work in the studio to finalize a full-length release, due in Summer 2008.
