Asia Society Transforms Into Night Market

Inspired by the sights, sounds and smells of an authentic Southeast Asian night market, Asia Society Texas Center will transform the 1300 block of Southmore into an unforgettable festival of flavors to celebrate the opening of two extraordinary art exhibitions: Weavers’ Stories from Island Southeast Asia and Between History and New Horizons: Photographs of Women, Work and Community in Laos.

The family-friendly, FREE event will feature:

  • Goro & Gun making a traditional Filipino lechon-style pig roast
  • Melange Creperie creating Laos-style crepes
  • Traditional Vietnamese coffee drinks by Caphin
  • Indonesian coffee drinks by Greenway Coffee (David Buehrer and Ecky Prabanto)
  • Kids’ Creation Station – A fun, cultural art-making activity
  • Live music by DJ SUN
  • Sleight of hand tricks by magician David Rangel

Additional food vendors include: Best of FilipinianaFlip ‘n PattiesIt’s a WrapJuice It Raw!MuSuBi and Nougat Desserts & ConfectionsUrban Harvest Farmers Market vendors include: Big Creek Farms, Orchid Obsession, Pat Greer’s Kitchen, Texas T Kobe, LLC, The Utility Research Garden, and yaya’s RAW Rah, LLC.

The Community ClothTen Thousand Villages and She Has Hope will sell hand-crafted, fair-trade goods made by girls and women from Southeast Asia.
